Usage

  • The GLS methods show your price. With GLS ParcelShop & Parcel Locker the customer clicks Choose a GLS point, searches by postal code or town (the delivery postal code is filled in), filters ParcelShops or Parcel Lockers, and picks a point from the list (name, address, opening hours, distance, cash on delivery). The choice is checked against the GLS list on the server.
  • The order cannot be placed without a point; the card is highlighted.
  • The chosen point is shown on the customer’s order page, in the admin and on invoices.
  1. Open the order and the GLS label and tracking tab.
  2. Enter the number of parcels (1 to 99) and click Create label. The add-on prepares the parcel at GLS, prints the label and saves it with the order: the parcel number, the reference (CS<order>-<record>) and the record id are shown.
  3. Download label gives the PDF or ZPL file. Print again prints the same parcel in another format (for example ZPL for a thermal printer) without creating a new parcel.

Labels can also be created automatically when an order reaches the status set in the settings (by the cron queue). Cancelled, declined, failed and incomplete orders never get a label.

Cancel at GLS deletes the parcel in MyGLS and marks it cancelled in the store. GLS refuses parcels that were already handed over; the reason is shown. After a cancellation a new label can be created.

Create return label makes a parcel from the customer’s address to your sender address (with SRS or PRS if set in the settings) and saves its label under Return label. Send it to the customer.

The cron checks open parcels every two hours (waiting at a point and problem parcels every six hours); Refresh tracking checks one now. States: created, in transit, waiting at the GLS point, delivered, problem, returned, with the GLS status text, depot and time. The parcel number links to the GLS tracking page. A delivered parcel stays delivered.

If GLS does not answer a label request (timeout or server error), the parcel may exist at GLS. The add-on never repeats such a request by itself:

  1. Click Check at GLS: the add-on looks the reference up in MyGLS and takes the parcel over (label printed, nothing created twice).
  2. If GLS has no parcel with this reference and MyGLS shows none, click Nothing was created at GLS; then create the label again.

If only the printing failed, the shipment is Prepared at GLS: click Print label.

Orders > GLS shipments lists every label with its state, service and parcel number, with search and a state filter.

  • Owner mode on: the marketplace owner creates the labels; vendors see the GLS tab and the shipments of their own orders.
  • Owner mode off: each vendor connects their own MyGLS account (Connection in the vendor panel) and creates, prints, cancels and returns the labels of their own orders. Vendors never see other vendors’ orders or labels; the queue run, the cron and the point list download are admin-only.
