What is recorded
Section titled “What is recorded”A small script on every storefront page reads the UTM tags and ad click IDs of the address, the site the visitor came from and the landing page. It keeps two touches:
- First touch: the first visit the store knows of.
- Last touch: the most recent visit from a campaign or an outside site. Internal navigation, direct visits and returns from payment pages do not replace it.
On the cart and checkout pages the script hands the touches to the store. When the order is placed both touches are saved with it, together with the number of tracked visits. The page itself never changes and nothing slows down.
| Order created | Source saved |
|---|---|
| On the storefront | The touches of the shopper’s browser (cookie or current visit), else the outside site that started the session, else direct. |
| In the admin panel | “Manual (admin)”. |
| Through the REST API | “API”. |
| Multi-Vendor vendor orders | The same source as the main order. |
| Edited later | The original source is kept. |
