Shipping Estimator on Product Page answers the two questions shoppers ask before they add a product to the cart: what does delivery cost and when does it arrive. Right next to the “Add to cart” button the product page shows “Delivery to 10001 New York: $7.45 via Standard shipping, arrives Sat, Oct 24 – Tue, Oct 27”, with a countdown to the order cut-off and the other delivery options one click away. No surprises at checkout, fewer abandoned carts.
- Real rates, no second price list: the estimate is calculated by the CS-Cart shipping calculation itself, exactly like the “Estimate shipping cost” box in the cart, for this product with the chosen quantity and options. Manual rates, realtime carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL and others), shipping freight, free-shipping products, promotions and taxes all apply.
- The visitor’s location: taken from the customer’s profile or the address already entered in the cart, otherwise the store default. Shoppers change it in a small form (country, state, postcode, city); the choice is kept for the next product pages.
- Delivery dates: dispatch days, an order cut-off time, holidays, handling time per product and per vendor, and transit days per shipping method (or the method’s own delivery time text such as “3-5 days”). With Kavio Delivery Date & Time Slots installed, its calendar is used.
- Free shipping hint: “Add $12.00 more for free delivery” when a method becomes free from an order total. With Kavio Shipping Goal Progress Bar installed, both show the same amount.
- Multi-Vendor: every vendor ships separately, so a product shows only its vendor’s shipping methods, with “Ships from …” and the vendor’s own handling and cut-off time.
- Fast and cache friendly: the page never waits for a carrier; the estimate loads in the background, rates are cached for a few minutes, and pages stay fully cacheable with the full page cache of CS-Cart 4.21.
