FAQ

Does my store show prices in the product currency to customers?

Section titled “Does my store show prices in the product currency to customers?”

No. Customers see the normal store price in the primary currency (or in the currency they choose in the currency switcher, converted by CS-Cart as before). The product currency is the currency you enter the price in, for example the currency of your supplier’s price list.

Do promotions, taxes, filters and feeds keep working?

Section titled “Do promotions, taxes, filters and feeds keep working?”

Yes. The converted price is saved as the normal product price, so all of CS-Cart and other add-ons work with it as with any other price.

From Administration → Currencies. Change a rate there (or let your rate tool do it) and the prices follow. The add-on does not download rates itself.

All products priced in that currency are recalculated right away, and the run appears in the recalculation log with the old and new price of each product. If a tool writes rates directly to the database, the cron job picks up the change.

In our test 10,000 products were recalculated in about 16–21 seconds. Larger catalogs continue in the background with the cron job; the Price currencies page shows the progress.

I edited a price in the product list. Which price wins?

Section titled “I edited a price in the product list. Which price wins?”

By default your edit: the new primary price is kept and becomes the currency price at the current rate. If the currency price should always win, set When the primary price is edited directly to Restore the currency price.

Yes: Rounding → Round converted prices → To a price ending, ending 0.99. You can also round to a step (0.05, 1, …) and choose the direction. A product can opt out.

Do quantity discounts and customer group prices work?

Section titled “Do quantity discounts and customer group prices work?”

Yes. Enter them in the product currency in the price currency block; percent discounts stay percentages.

Can vendors price their products in their own currency?

Section titled “Can vendors price their products in their own currency?”

Yes, on Multi-Vendor. Turn on Vendors can set a price currency and choose the currencies vendors may use.

New variations take the currency of their parent product with their own price. The Also use this currency for the other variations option applies a currency to a whole variation group.

Does it work with the EU price history (Omnibus) add-on?

Section titled “Does it work with the EU price history (Omnibus) add-on?”

Yes. Every recalculated price goes through the normal CS-Cart price saving, so our Omnibus price history add-on records it like a manual change.

What happens to prices when I disable or uninstall the add-on?

Section titled “What happens to prices when I disable or uninstall the add-on?”

Nothing: products keep the prices last calculated in the primary currency. Uninstalling removes the currency prices and the log.

A currency was deleted. What happens to its products?

Section titled “A currency was deleted. What happens to its products?”

They keep their last price. The Price currencies page shows them as Currency deleted; price them in another currency with the bulk tool or remove the price currency.

Yes. Settings apply to the whole installation; products shared with several storefronts get the same converted prices on all storefronts.

Without a valid license (no key after the 14-day start period, an invalid or revoked key, a domain the license does not cover, or no successful check for 14 days), products keep the prices last calculated in the primary currency; currency prices are no longer converted on product save, rate changes, cron runs, imports or bulk tools. Your data stays. Once the license is valid again, click Recalculate now.

Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Product Price in Any Currency → Settings → License. The status line says what is wrong: no key, a key for another add-on, a revoked license, or a domain that the license does not cover. Fix it and click Check now. See License.

Yes. Subdomains of your licensed domain (for example staging.yourstore.com) and local development hosts (localhost, private IP addresses, *.local, *.test) are covered by the same license.

What happens if your license server is down?

Section titled “What happens if your license server is down?”

Nothing changes for 14 days: the add-on keeps working and retries every hour. Only if no check succeeds for 14 days is it switched off until the next successful check.

Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?

Section titled “Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?”

No. The check runs in the admin panel or from cron, once a day. The storefront never runs it.
