FAQ
Can there be gaps or duplicate numbers?
Section titled “Can there be gaps or duplicate numbers?”No. Each number is taken inside a database transaction that locks the series counter, inserts the document and moves the counter together. If anything fails, nothing is saved and the number is not used. We test this with many parallel processes issuing invoices and credit notes at the same time.
Are existing orders numbered when I install the add-on?
Section titled “Are existing orders numbered when I install the add-on?”No. Existing orders get an invoice only when they next reach an “issue invoice” status, or when you use Orders → Invoices → Invoices for existing orders on purpose.
Can I change or delete an invoice?
Section titled “Can I change or delete an invoice?”No, by design. An issued invoice keeps its number and content, even when the order, the product or your company details change later. Corrections are made with credit notes. The layout (Design → Documents) can be changed at any time and applies to all documents.
Can I continue the numbers from my previous system?
Section titled “Can I continue the numbers from my previous system?”Yes. Set First number of a new series to the next number you need before the first invoice of the series is issued (for example 1043), and use the same format.
Two vendors have invoices with the same number. Is that right?
Section titled “Two vendors have invoices with the same number. Is that right?”With numbering per vendor, every vendor is the seller of its own orders and has its own series, so INV-2026-00001 exists once per vendor. Add {VENDOR} to the format (for example INV-{VENDOR}-{YYYY}-{N}) if you want numbers that are unique across the marketplace, or choose Marketplace numbering.
Does the add-on cover the invoicing rules of my country?
Section titled “Does the add-on cover the invoicing rules of my country?”The add-on helps you keep sequential invoices with consistent content; it does not know the rules of each country. Check with your accountant which details your invoices need, and add them with the texts, the seller tax ID and the template.
Why are there no PDF buttons?
Section titled “Why are there no PDF buttons?”PDF files are created by the core PDF documents add-on, which uses the CS-Cart PDF conversion service. Activate it in Add-ons → Manage add-ons. Without it, the print view works everywhere and the browser can save it as a PDF.
In which currency are the documents?
Section titled “In which currency are the documents?”In the currency the customer used for the order, with the exchange rate of the moment the document was issued. The lists and the CSV also show the totals in your base currency. Additional credit amounts are entered in the base currency.
A customer cannot open the invoice.
Section titled “A customer cannot open the invoice.”Only the customer of the order can open its documents, after signing in (guests need the access to that order, as for the order page). Check that Customers can open their documents is on. Documents of deleted orders are not shown to customers.
What happens if the license lapses?
Section titled “What happens if the license lapses?”Without a valid license (no key after the 14-day start period, an invalid or revoked key, a domain the license does not cover, or no successful check for 14 days), no new invoice or credit note numbers are issued and nothing is attached to e-mails. Invoices and credit notes issued so far stay viewable, printable and downloadable for you, your vendors and your customers. Once the license is valid again, invoice the orders of that period with Issue invoice now or the tool for existing orders.
The admin panel shows a license notice.
Section titled “The admin panel shows a license notice.”Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Invoices & Credit Notes → Settings → License. The status line says what is wrong: no key, a key for another add-on, a revoked license, or a domain that the license does not cover. Fix it and click Check now. See License.
Does the add-on work on my staging copy?
Section titled “Does the add-on work on my staging copy?”Yes. Subdomains of your licensed domain (for example staging.yourstore.com) and local development hosts (localhost, private IP addresses, *.local, *.test) are covered by the same license.
Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?
Section titled “Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?”No. The check runs in the admin panel or from cron, once a day. The storefront never runs it.
