Address Autocomplete & Validation
Edition: CS-Cart & Multi-Vendor · Latest version: 1.0.0 · Compatible with: CS-Cart & Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 – 4.21.x, PHP 7.4 – 8.3 · Changelog: view
Address suggestions on the street field of your checkout, the My account address book and the Multi-Vendor vendor application. The customer picks an address and the add-on fills the street, city, state, country and zip code of the fields your theme already has.
Key features
Section titled “Key features”- Two providers: Google Places API (New) or Geoapify (OpenStreetMap data, own free daily credits, no Google billing). Switch any time in the settings.
- Built on Places API (New): no Maps JavaScript API and no “Places API (Legacy)” service. Google stopped enabling the legacy service for new Google Cloud projects in March 2025, so a new key works with this add-on.
- The key stays on your server: the browser talks to the add-on’s own endpoint; the key never appears in the page source. Restrict the Google key to Places API (New) and your server IP address.
- Session tokens (Google): the suggestions of one address entry and the details request share one session token, as Google recommends for autocomplete billing.
- Your theme’s own fields: no extra address widget. Works with the core checkout (shipping and billing address), one-step checkout layouts built on the core checkout fields, My account and the vendor application.
- Correct state codes: the state comes back as your store’s state code (for example “Berlin” becomes BER in Germany), matched by code or name, accents ignored. Countries without a state list get the state name.
- Country rules: up to 15 allowed countries, and suggestions follow the country already selected in the form.
- Cost protection: suggestions start after 3 characters and a 300 ms pause, at most N requests per visitor session, per IP address and hour, and per day. A blocked request only stops the suggestions; customers can always type the address by hand.
- Usage dashboard (Settings > Address Autocomplete): requests today against the daily cap, addresses filled, requests per address, requests stopped by the caps, a 30-day chart, a setup checklist, a connection test and a key restriction guide.
- Keyboard and screen reader friendly (combobox, arrow keys, Enter, Escape), phone friendly, right-to-left ready.
- Full page cache safe: the script and its options are the same for every visitor.
The add-on itself sends no data to us. Requests go from your server to the provider you choose, with your own key, and the provider bills you directly:
- Google Places API (New): billed per request by Google after the monthly free usage of your Google Cloud account. See Google’s current price list for Autocomplete and Place Details.
- Geoapify: free plan with a daily credit limit, paid plans above it. See Geoapify’s pricing page.
The dashboard counts every request so you can compare it with the provider’s bill.
Editions
Section titled “Editions”CS-Cart (incl. Ultimate) and Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 to 4.21.x, PHP 7.4 to 8.3. On CS-Cart Ultimate every storefront has its own settings and key; on Multi-Vendor one setup serves the marketplace and vendors have no access to it.
Testing
Section titled “Testing”Tested on CS-Cart 4.17.2 and Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 against a local mock of the Google Places API (New) and Geoapify APIs that follows their public documentation; Multi-Vendor 4.21.2 checked with a template compile and PHP 8.3. A live Google or Geoapify account was not part of the tests.
