Open Products → Bulk product editor. The page has two tabs: Products (the grid) and Change log.

  • Filters: name or search words, code, category (including its subcategories), status, minimum and maximum price, minimum and maximum stock, vendor (Multi-Vendor administrators) and Variations (untick it to hide the variations of a product). Click Filter; Reset clears the filters.
  • Sorting: click a column title with a link (name, code, price, list price, stock, weight, status) to sort; click again to reverse.
  • Paging: the grid loads one page at a time from the server (25 to 250 products), so it stays fast with any catalog size.
  • Columns: Columns lists the built-in fields and the product features. Your choice, filters and page size are remembered in your browser.
  • Language: texts (name, meta fields, search words, text features) are edited in the content language chosen with the language selector of the page. Other languages are not changed.
  • The ID links to the product page; a small arrow after the ID marks a variation.
  1. Double-click a cell, or select it and press Enter or start typing.
  2. Type the new value. Enter confirms and moves down, Tab confirms and moves right, Esc cancels.
  3. Changed cells are highlighted. The title bar shows Save N changes; Discard drops all unsaved changes. Ctrl+S saves too.

More keys: the arrow keys move between cells, Delete clears an optional text or feature, Ctrl+Z undoes the unsaved change of the selected cell, Ctrl+C copies the cell value.

Paste from a spreadsheet: select the first cell and press Ctrl+V. A column copied from Excel or Google Sheets fills the rows below; several columns fill the cells to the right. Status and Yes/No columns accept the words shown in the grid (for example Active, Hidden, Yes); select features accept the variant name.

Categories: a categories cell opens a small editor: the assigned categories with the main one marked, Make main, remove (×), and a search to add more categories. A product always keeps at least one category.

Prices and numbers accept 12.50, 12,50 and 1,234.50. Prices, list prices, freight and weight cannot be negative; stock is a whole number and may be negative if your store allows it.

Saving. When you save, each changed product is updated through the standard CS-Cart product update. The grid then shows what was really saved:

  • green: saved;
  • red with a message: not accepted (an invalid value, or a rule of CS-Cart or another add-on refused it, for example a product that is shared from another storefront);
  • changed by someone else: the value changed after the page was loaded (another administrator, an import, an order). It is not overwritten; the current value is shown, enter your change again if you still want it.
  1. Tick products (the box in the header ticks the whole page). To act on every product that matches the filter, click Select all N matching products.
  2. Click Mass action and choose:
    • Apply to: the selected products or all products matching the filter;
    • Field and Action. Available actions depend on the field:
Field Actions
Price, list price Set to; increase by; decrease by (% or amount); Set from list price/price +/- %; rounding: cents, whole numbers, .99, .95
Stock Set to; increase by; decrease by
Weight, shipping freight Set to; increase by; decrease by; rounding
Status, free shipping Set to
Code, page title, meta description, meta keywords, search words Set to; find and replace; add text at the start; add text at the end
Name, short description, full description Find and replace; add text at the start; add text at the end
Categories Add categories; remove categories; set main category
Features Set to a value; remove the value
  1. Click Preview. You see how many products are in scope and, for the first 25, the value before and after and whether it changes, stays the same or is skipped (for example a price that would fall below zero, or a feature that does not apply to the product’s categories).
  2. Click Apply to N products. The action runs in steps with a progress bar and ends with a summary: products changed, values changed, unchanged and skipped, plus any messages.

Add text at the start/end does nothing for products that already start or end with that text, so running it twice is safe. Find and replace replaces every occurrence; tick Match case for an exact-case match.

If the connection drops during a long action, open the Change log: the action is shown as Interrupted with a Continue button that finishes it from where it stopped.

The Change log tab lists every save and mass action, newest first: number, date, who, what (fields, the action and its scope), how many values changed and the status.

  • Details shows the changed cells: product, field, old value and new value (the first 200).
  • Undo restores the old values of that entry. A value that was changed again after the entry (by another save, an import, an order) is kept and counted as skipped. The undo is itself an entry in the log, so you can undo the undo.
  • Entries are kept for the number of days in the settings (90 by default).

Saved views stores the current filters, columns and page size under a name. Click a view to open it; × deletes your own view. Administrators can tick Shared to make a view available to the other administrators; vendors’ views are always private.

  • Vendors open Products → Bulk product editor in the vendor panel (when Vendors can use the bulk editor is on). They see and change only their own products, without the vendor column and filter.
  • The vendor rules of your marketplace apply as on the product page; for example with Vendor data premoderation, changed products go to moderation.
  • Vendors see only their own change log entries and views. Administrators see the entries made in the admin panel.
  • With All storefronts selected, you edit the products of all storefronts.
  • With a storefront selected, the grid shows that storefront’s products, including shared ones. For a product shared from another storefront, prices and texts are saved for the selected storefront only (as on the product page); fields that belong to the owner storefront (for example stock or status) are reported as not accepted.
  • Categories must belong to the storefront that owns the product.
