Installation

  • CS-Cart, CS-Cart Ultimate, Multi-Vendor or Multi-Vendor Ultimate 4.17.2 – 4.21.x.
  • For the hero slider and the promo banners, the core Banners add-on; for Play ideas, Blog; for parent reviews, Comments and reviews; for product ratings, Product reviews; for the newsletter, Newsletters; for the heart on cards and the wish list band, Wish list.
  • Administrator access to the admin panel.
  1. Download kv_theme_kite-<version>.zip from your Kavio Labs or CS-Cart Marketplace account.
  2. Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons, click the gear button, choose Manual installation and upload the archive. The add-on Kite theme installs the Kite theme files. It does not change your storefront.
  3. Enter your licence key: Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Kite theme → Settings → License (see Configuration).
  4. Open Website → Themes, find Kite and click Activate. CS-Cart asks whether to apply the theme’s recommended settings (square product images without a background colour, the thumbnails gallery in product lists for the second image on hover, quick view, 12 products per page, sorting by popularity); accept them for the intended look.
  5. Open any admin page once: Kite adds its demo content (Skylark Toys & Baby: eight departments with 21 subcategories, 62 products with age, interest, brand, material and safety features, product filters, colour and size options, reviews, a “Birthday week” promotion with a real end date, three hero slides and two promo banners, four Play ideas posts, parent reviews and a main menu; on Multi-Vendor four demo shops with shop reviews) and points the homepage blocks at it. A notice confirms it. Turn the setting Install the demo content when the theme is activated off before step 4 to start with an empty design.
  6. Choose a style: Playroom, Nursery, Woodland or Bedtime.

The theme brings its own layout (top bar, header with account, wish list and cart, category band, homepage sections with the growth chart, gift finder and wish list band, age bar and promo tile on category pages, product page bottom, footer brand column). Layouts of your other themes stay untouched; switching back to your previous theme brings them back.

Upload the new package the same way (Manual installation over the installed add-on), or install the upgrade package in Administration → Upgrade center. Then open any admin page once: the add-on updates the installed theme files. Files you changed yourself (for example a style edited in the Theme editor) are kept, and a notice lists them. Your layouts and blocks are never replaced, and the demo content is never added twice.

  1. Switch every storefront to another theme in Website → Themes.
  2. Uninstall Kite theme in Add-ons → Manage add-ons. The Kite theme files and its layouts are removed. The demo products, categories, features, filters, banners, promotions and posts stay (they are normal items); delete the ones you do not need.

If a storefront still uses Kite when you uninstall the add-on, the theme files are kept and that storefront shows the standard Responsive look until you install the add-on again or switch the theme.
