Usage
Open Products > Bulk image upload, drop images or a folder on the page, check the preview, and press Upload images.
Naming your files
Section titled “Naming your files”The name is compared with the SKU, without regard to upper and lower case. The longest reading that exists in your catalogue wins, so a SKU that contains a separator still works.
| File | Product SKU | Result |
|---|---|---|
BT-100.jpg |
BT-100 |
First image |
BT-100_2.jpg |
BT-100 |
Second image, numbers set the order |
BT-100-side.jpg |
BT-100 |
After the numbered images, words in alphabetical order |
BT-100-main.jpg |
BT-100 |
First image. The same goes for front, hero and primary |
AB_12_2.jpg |
AB_12 |
Second image of AB_12 |
BT-100/1.jpg |
BT-100 |
The folder name is the SKU, the number in the file name sets the order |
Separator: by default any of _, -, . or a space separates the SKU from the rest. Choose one if your SKUs make this ambiguous.
The preview
Section titled “The preview”Nothing is uploaded yet. Every file gets one status.
| Status | Meaning | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Matched | A single product has this SKU | Untick it to leave it out |
| Not matched | No product has this SKU | Type a SKU in the row, or download the list |
| Conflicts | Several products have this SKU, or two files want the same position | Choose the product, or tick the file you want |
| Skipped | The product already has images (Only products without images), or a variation uses the images of its parent | Change the mode, or upload to the parent |
| Not valid | Wrong type, empty, or over the size limit | Fix the file |
The Role column shows which image will be the main one. Change an option on the right and the preview updates.
What happens to existing images
Section titled “What happens to existing images”| Mode | Effect |
|---|---|
| Add | Existing images stay. New images go after them. A product with no main image gets one |
| Add and set a new main image | The first new image becomes main. The old main image stays as additional |
| Replace all | Old images are deleted once the product’s new images are stored. If every new file of a product fails, the old images stay. This cannot be undone |
| Only products without images | Products that already have an image are skipped |
Uploading
Section titled “Uploading”The bar shows progress and time left. Pause stops after the current part. Files of one product go one after the other; several products run in parallel.
A file that is not a real image is refused on the server, whatever its name says. The rest of the upload goes on.
If the connection drops, a part is retried four times. If the page closes, the sign-in expires or the computer restarts, open the page again: a banner offers to continue. Choose the same files, and the upload goes on from the last stored byte. Unfinished uploads are closed after two days.
After the upload
Section titled “After the upload”- Download report: a CSV with every file, SKU, product, status, role and message.
- Retry failed files: a new upload with only the files that failed.
- History tab: past uploads, their reports, and Undo. Undo removes the images an upload added and restores the old main image. Uploads in Replace all mode cannot be undone, because the old files are gone.
Vendors
Section titled “Vendors”Vendors open the same page at Products > Bulk image upload in the vendor panel. They match only their own products. Limits from other add-ons apply as usual: an image refused by a plan limit shows as failed in the report.
Variations and common products
Section titled “Variations and common products”- Variations: when a child variation uses the images of its parent, which is the default, its files show as skipped. Upload to the parent’s SKU, or turn on own images in the Product variations add-on.
- Common products (Multi-Vendor): vendor offers take their images from the common product, so only the common product is matched.
