Installation
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- CS-Cart or CS-Cart Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 – 4.21.x, PHP 7.2.5 – 8.3 (as supported by your CS-Cart version).
- MySQL or MariaDB with InnoDB tables (the default). The number counter uses database transactions.
- Optional: the core PDF documents add-on for PDF files, the core RMA add-on for credit notes on returns, our EU VAT Validation add-on for VAT numbers, our Customer Wallet & Store Credit add-on for credit notes on wallet refunds.
Install
Section titled “Install”- Go to Add-ons → Manage add-ons, click + (Upload & install add-on) and choose the add-on archive.
- Find Invoices & Credit Notes in the list and make sure it is Active.
- Open its Settings and check the numbering formats and the statuses at which invoices are issued (see Configuration).
- Enter your license key on the License tab.
Installing adds two documents to Design → Documents (Invoice and Credit note, both marked “Invoices & Credit Notes”) and the e-mail template Invoice or credit note (Design → Email templates).
Nothing is numbered on install. Orders that already exist get an invoice only when they next reach an “issue invoice” status, or when you issue invoices for them on purpose (below).
PDF files
Section titled “PDF files”PDF files are created by the core PDF documents add-on (Add-ons → Manage add-ons → PDF documents), which converts the document with the CS-Cart PDF service. When it is active you get Download PDF buttons, PDF attachments in e-mails and ZIP files of PDF documents.
Without it, everything still works with the print view: customers and staff open the document page and use Print (the browser can save it as a PDF), e-mails carry a link to the document, and ZIP downloads contain one HTML page per document. The add-on settings show which mode is active.
Invoices for existing orders
Section titled “Invoices for existing orders”Orders → Invoices → Invoices for existing orders gives invoices to orders that do not have one yet:
- Choose the order statuses and, optionally, the period in which the orders were placed. Click Find orders: the page shows how many orders match.
- Tick the confirmation box and click Issue invoices. Up to 100 orders are numbered per click, oldest order first; repeat until no orders are left.
The invoices are dated on the day you issue them. Use this once after installing, for the orders you want to invoice.
Privileges
Section titled “Privileges”The pages use the core order privileges: View orders to see documents, lists and exports, Edit order details to issue invoices and credit notes. Vendors see only the documents of their own orders.
Upgrading
Section titled “Upgrading”Install the new version over the old one (Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Upload & install add-on). Numbers, documents and settings stay. The add-on applies new database changes itself on the next page view.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”Uninstalling removes the add-on’s tables with every invoice and credit note issued by it, its settings, its document templates and its e-mail template. Export the lists to CSV (and keep PDF or printed copies) before you uninstall. To stop issuing documents but keep them, switch Issue invoices and credit notes off in the settings or disable the add-on instead.
