Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- CS-Cart or CS-Cart Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 – 4.21.x.
- PHP 7.2.5 – 8.3, as supported by your CS-Cart version.
- The cURL extension and outgoing HTTPS from the server to
ec.europa.eu(VIES) and, for UK numbers,api.service.hmrc.gov.uk. - Taxes set up in CS-Cart (Settings → Taxes) with rates for the countries you sell to.
- A license key from cs-cart.kaviolabs.com or a CS-Cart Marketplace license number.
Install
Section titled “Install”- In the admin panel open Add-ons → Manage add-ons, click the gear button and choose Manual installation.
- Upload
kv_eu_vat_validation-1.0.0.zipand click Upload & install. - Open the add-on, go to the License tab and enter your license key. Click Check now.
- On the Settings tab enter Your VAT number (for example
DE123456789) and check Store country. See Configuration. - Open Orders → EU VAT numbers: the top of the page shows whether everything is ready.
What the installation does:
- Creates the VAT number profile field in Customers → Profile fields (Contact information, shown on the profile page and at checkout, not required).
- Adds the field to the Customer information block of the checkout layout (Design → Layouts → Checkout), because the CS-Cart checkout shows only the contact fields picked in that block. If you use your own checkout layout, add the field there yourself; the EU VAT numbers page warns you when it is missing.
- Creates three tables: the VIES answer cache, the validation log and the VAT data of orders.
Upgrading
Section titled “Upgrading”Upload the new version over the installed one (Manual installation) or install the upgrade package in Administration → Upgrade center. Settings, saved numbers, order data and the log are kept; missing tables, settings and the profile field are added automatically on the next admin page you open.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”Add-ons → Manage add-ons → EU VAT Number Validation & Reverse Charge → Uninstall removes:
- the VAT number profile field created by the add-on, together with the numbers customers saved in it (a field of your own that you chose in the settings is not touched);
- the VAT data of orders (VIES answers and consultation numbers), the log and the cache;
- the settings and the texts.
Orders keep their totals. Export the log first if you need it (copy the table from the EU VAT numbers page). Disabling the add-on instead keeps everything.
