Configuration

Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → B2B Request a Quote (RFQ) (or the Settings button on the quote list). In CS-Cart Ultimate you can change the settings per storefront.

Setting Default What it does
Enable quote requests On Turns the storefront part (buttons, quote list, quote pages) on or off without uninstalling. Existing quotes stay.
Default “Request a quote” button Next to “Add to cart” Used for every product unless the product or one of its categories has its own setting. Next to “Add to cart”: customers can buy or ask for a price. Instead of “Add to cart” (quote only): the product can only be requested as a quote; the quantity box stays. Do not show: no button, unless you turn it on per category or product.
Show the quote button to (none ticked) User groups that see the button. Leave everything unticked to show it to all customers.
Hide prices from (none ticked) User groups that see no prices on products with the quote button. For them these products are quote only and show “Price on request”. Typical use: tick Guest to make visitors ask for prices, or tick a wholesale group.
Guests can request quotes On Off: guests do not see the button and have to sign in.
Company name is required Off Makes the Company field of the request form mandatory.
Phone is required Off Makes the Phone field mandatory.
Offer valid for (days) 14 Default expiry date of a new offer. You can change the date for every offer. 0 = no expiry date.
Apply catalog promotions to quoted prices Off Off: the quoted unit price is final. On: catalog promotions can lower it further. Cart promotions and coupons always work as usual.
Vendors answer quotes for their products On Multi-Vendor only. On: each vendor gets the quotes for its own products in the vendor panel. Off: the marketplace administrators answer every quote.

Hidden prices only apply to products that have the quote button. A product with Do not show keeps its price for everybody.

The product and category editors have a Request a quote section on the Add-ons tab with these choices:

  • Use the category or store setting (default);
  • Show next to “Add to cart”;
  • Quote only (instead of “Add to cart”);
  • Do not show.

The product setting wins over the categories. A category setting applies to its products and subcategories; for a product, the add-on looks at its main category, then at the parent categories, then at the store setting. Vendors (Multi-Vendor) can set the product option for their own products; category settings are for administrators.

Setting Default What it does
Allow file attachments On Customers and staff can attach files to the request and to messages.
Files per message 5 Maximum number of files per request or message.
Maximum file size (MB) 5 Per file. Your PHP upload_max_filesize and post_max_size limits also apply.
Allowed file types jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp, pdf, txt, csv, xlsx, docx, zip Comma-separated list. Scripts, HTML and SVG files are always refused, and the content of images, PDF and Office/ZIP files is checked.

Files are stored in var/custom_files/kv_b2b_quote_request (not reachable from the web) and are only sent after an access check.

Setting Default What it does
Send staff notifications to (empty) Comma-separated e-mail addresses for new requests and customer answers. Empty: the store’s Order department e-mail. Vendor quotes go to the vendor’s e-mail (Multi-Vendor).

Turn single notifications on or off in Administration → Notifications (group Quote requests):

Event Customer Staff / vendor
New quote request Confirmation e-mail E-mail and admin panel notice
Quote offer sent to the customer Offer e-mail with prices, validity and link
Message or status update to the customer E-mail with the message
Customer accepted, declined or answered a quote E-mail and admin panel notice

Edit the texts in Design → E-mail templates (the five templates start with “Quote request:”).

If a CAPTCHA add-on (for example Google reCAPTCHA) is active, open Settings → Image verification and tick Quote requests under Use for to protect the guest request form.

The license status is shown in a License card at the top of the add-on page, above the tabs, so you see it on every tab. The License tab holds the key itself. The key is stored once for the whole installation (not per storefront).

License card on the add-on page: status, licensed domain, storefronts, last and next check, with Change license key, Check now and Manage license

The License card shows:

  • the status in color: green when valid, blue for a development host or the 14-day period before a key is required (with the days left), amber when the license server could not be reached (with the days left) or a Marketplace number is still being verified, red when the add-on is switched off;
  • in plain words what the status means and, when the add-on is (or will be) switched off, what stops: new quote requests are off: the “Request a quote” buttons and hidden prices are removed and prices show normally; existing quotes stay readable, and accepted quotes that have not expired can still be checked out at the quoted price;
  • the licensed domain, every storefront with its result (covered, development host, not covered), the end of the updates and support period, the last and the next check, and the key in use (masked);
  • the actions Enter license key / Change license key (opens the License tab), Check now (verifies at once and stays on the page), Manage license (your licenses on cs-cart.kaviolabs.com) and, without a valid license, Buy a license.

In Add-ons → Manage add-ons the add-on’s row shows a small license badge next to its name, for example License: Valid or License: Pending · 9 days left.

The add-on’s own admin pages (the quote list and the quote page) show the license status in a bar at the top: a small green chip when the license is valid, or a banner with the status, what is switched off and the same actions as the card.

Setting Description
License key Your Kavio Labs license key (KAVIO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, from My licenses on cs-cart.kaviolabs.com) or your CS-Cart Marketplace license number. If you entered the Marketplace license number in Add-ons → Manage add-ons (the add-on’s license field), leave this empty: the add-on uses that number.
License status Points to the License card and explains what the check sends.

What the license covers. A license is bound to the base domain you entered at purchase (for example example.com) and covers every subdomain of it (www.example.com, shop.example.com, staging.example.com). Local development hosts are always allowed: localhost, 127.0.0.1 and other private IP addresses, and host names ending in .localhost, .test, .local, .example or .invalid. A store on a different base domain needs its own license. If you move your store to a new domain, contact support.

When the add-on checks. When you save the key, and then once a day. The check runs only in the admin panel (on a page you open) or from cron, never while customers browse the storefront, and takes a few seconds at most. A cron job keeps the license verified even when nobody opens the admin panel:

php /path/to/store/admin.php --dispatch=kv_b2b_quote_request_license.check

What is sent. The check sends this to https://cs-cart.kaviolabs.com and nothing else: the license key, the add-on ID and version, the host names of your storefronts, your CS-Cart version and edition, and a random one-time value. No customer, order or personal data is sent. The server answers with a digitally signed result, so a forged answer is ignored.

Statuses.

Status (card) Color What happens
Valid Green The license is valid for this domain. Everything works.
Development host Blue The store runs on a local development host, which every license covers. Everything works.
Pending verification Amber A CS-Cart Marketplace license number was accepted, but the Marketplace has not confirmed it yet. Everything works.
Pending · N days left Blue No verified key yet (a new installation, or right after upgrading from 1.0.x). Everything works for 14 days.
Grace period · N days left Amber The last checks failed (for example a network problem). The add-on keeps working for 14 days after the first failed check.
Partly valid Amber (CS-Cart with several storefronts) Some storefronts run on another base domain. New quote requests are off on those storefronts only.
Not activated, Invalid key, Revoked, Domain mismatch, Not verified Red Customers can no longer send new quote requests: the “Request a quote” buttons and the quote list are hidden, hidden prices are shown normally again and quote-only products can be added to the cart like any other product. Existing quotes stay readable in the admin panel (where you can still manage them) and in the customer account (read only), and accepted quotes that have not expired can still be checked out at the quoted price. Checkout and the rest of your store are not affected. Domain mismatch shows the licensed domain next to the domain your store runs on.

When your updates and support period ends, the add-on keeps working. Only updates and support stop.

License information appears in the admin panel only, and only for administrators who may manage add-ons; vendors (Multi-Vendor) and customers never see it. When the add-on is switched off, other admin pages also show a notice once per session with a link to the add-on page; the add-on page and the add-on’s own pages show the card or the status bar instead.
