Usage
Offer DPD at the checkout
Section titled “Offer DPD at the checkout”- Create one shipping method per DPD product you sell (Administration > Shipping & taxes > Shipping methods): choose the carrier DPD and the service, then fill the Configure tab (price or weight table, countries, optional free-shipping threshold).
- DPD Pickup (parcel shop): at the checkout the customer sees a card under the method, enters or confirms the postal code and city and presses Search. The list shows the shops DPD finds with name, address and opening hours; Select stores the choice. A customer cannot place the order without a shop. The card tells the customer that the e-mail address goes to DPD for the notification.
- The shop is validated on the server: it must be part of a fresh DPD search around the delivery address.
Create a label
Section titled “Create a label”- Open the order. The DPD tab shows the parcel shop (for DPD Pickup) and the shipments of the order.
- Click Create DPD label. The add-on sends one
storeOrdersrequest and stores the PDF or ZPL label, the parcel label number (the tracking number) and the shipment number (mpsId). - Download label gives the stored file. The label is also created automatically when you set “Create the label when the order status becomes”.
- A failed label (for example a missing field) shows DPD’s fault code and text; fix the order and click again. Failed automatic jobs are retried and listed under Jobs.
Per order only one active shipment exists. “Create DPD label” is refused for orders paid with the payment method you marked as cash on delivery.
Return label
Section titled “Return label”On the order’s DPD tab click Create return label. A second request is sent with the customer as the sender, your shop as the recipient and the return flag set; the PDF is available as Return label. Check one return label with DPD before you offer returns to customers: the documentation does not describe what the flag changes at DPD.
Cancel
Section titled “Cancel”Cancel removes the label in the store and marks the shipment cancelled. DPD’s web services have no cancel operation, so DPD is not told and the parcel still exists at DPD: a new label creates a second parcel. If the parcel was already handed over, contact your depot.
Labels that got no answer
Section titled “Labels that got no answer”A label cannot be undone at DPD, so the add-on never repeats a request whose result it does not know. The label request is saved before it is sent (state Label request sent to DPD). If DPD does not answer in time (timeout, server error) or the request is interrupted, the shipment shows Result unknown: check the DPD portal and nothing is sent again, not by the queue and not by a second click. Look for the parcel in the DPD portal, then on the order’s DPD tab either enter its parcel label number and click Adopt parcel (the number is checked with DPD’s tracking service; the label PDF has to be reprinted in the DPD portal), or click Nothing was created at DPD to allow a new label.
No label is created for orders that are cancelled, declined, failed or incomplete. In Multi-Vendor with marketplace owner account mode, vendors can see shipments of their orders but cannot create labels on the owner’s DPD contract.
Tracking
Section titled “Tracking”The cron job asks ParcelLifeCycleService every two hours. The order shows the current DPD status text, place and time; the shipment list shows created, in transit, delivered or problem (an error event on the current status). Refresh checks one shipment at once. The tracking number links to DPD’s public tracking page.
International shipments
Section titled “International shipments”Destinations outside the EU customs union get the customs block automatically (invoice lines in Euro). DPD may require more data for some countries (tariff numbers, for example) and answers with a fault that the add-on shows.
Multi-Vendor
Section titled “Multi-Vendor”With owner mode on the marketplace owner’s account creates all labels and the sender is the vendor’s company address. With owner mode off every vendor connects their own DPD account and sees only their orders and shipments.
