Configuration

Open Add-ons > Manage add-ons > Address Autocomplete > Settings.

  • Enable: switches the suggestions on or off.
  • Address provider: Google Places API (New) or Geoapify.
  • Google API key: a key of a Google Cloud project with Places API (New) enabled.
  • Geoapify API key: the key of a Geoapify project.
  1. In the Google Cloud console create or pick a project with billing enabled.
  2. Under APIs & Services > Library enable Places API (New). The older “Places API” and the Maps JavaScript API are not needed.
  3. Under Credentials create an API key.
  4. In the key’s API restrictions choose Restrict key and select only Places API (New).
  5. In Application restrictions choose IP addresses and enter the public IP address of your web server. The requests come from your server, not from the browser, so an HTTP referrer restriction does not apply here.
  6. Set a budget alert under Billing.

Create a project in your Geoapify account and copy its API key. The free plan asks for an attribution: the add-on shows “Powered by Geoapify” and the OpenStreetMap credit under the suggestions.

  • Forms with suggestions: Checkout (shipping and billing address), My account (address book), Vendor application (Multi-Vendor). The vendor application shows address fields only when you enable them under Vendors > Vendor fields (or Customers > Profile fields, section Vendor).
  • Countries: up to 15 two-letter codes, for example US, CA. Empty = all countries.
  • Follow the country selected in the form: when a country is already selected, suggestions come only from it (if it is in the list).
  • Suggest: Addresses only (street addresses and buildings) or Addresses and places (also businesses and landmarks).
  • Minimum characters (default 3), Pause before a request (default 300 ms), Suggestions shown (default 5).
  • Requests per visitor session (default 40).
  • Requests per IP address and hour (default 200). IP addresses are stored only as a hash and deleted after two hours.
  • Requests per day (default 2000; per storefront on CS-Cart Ultimate).

0 switches a cap off. When a cap is reached the list simply stops appearing; checkout keeps working.
