Usage

Everything Folio shows comes from standard CS-Cart data: product features, product options, quantity discounts, product filters, categories, banners, promotions, blog posts and reviews. There are no extra tables to fill.

Create these product features (the codes are optional; features with these names work too):

Feature (code) Type Used by
Author (FO_AUTHOR) Select box “by Author” on cards and product pages, author list link, author header, search, filter
Publisher / Brand (FO_PUBLISHER) Select box catalogue card, the brand line on non-book cards, search, filter
Series (FO_SERIES) Select box series line on cards, “Book 2 of …” above the product title, search, filter
Series number (FO_SERIES_NO) Number the number in the series line

Add a product filter on Author, Publisher / Brand and Series (Products → Filters): the author and series links then open the filtered product list (features_hash) that shoppers can refine further, and a list filtered by exactly one author shows the author header (“Books by … · N titles · Series”). Without filters the links still work through the features.

More by this author: under the product tabs Folio shows up to six popular titles by the same author; when the author has only this title, the same series, then the same publisher or brand.

Feature (code) Type Example variants Used by
Format (FO_FORMAT) Multiple checkboxes Hardcover, Paperback, E-book, Audiobook format chips on cards, format bar, mega menu Formats column, catalogue card, filter
Genre (FO_GENRE) Multiple checkboxes Literary, Mystery, Science fiction, Picture book filter
Reading age (FO_AGE) Select box Ages 0-5, Ages 8-12, Ages 12+ the age tag on cards and product pages, filter

To sell one book in several formats, give it a product option Format (Select box) with a price modifier per variant (for example Paperback +0, Hardcover +$8, E-book -$5): Folio shows the variants as buttons on the product page. The format bar above category and search lists shows “All formats” plus one chip per format with products in the list; other filters stay applied. The Formats column appears in the mega menu panels of departments whose products have a Format value.

With Search by author, ISBN and SKU on, the standard product search also looks in the Author, Publisher / Brand and Series names, in the ISBN feature (FO_ISBN, Text) and in the product code; digits are matched with or without hyphens and spaces (9781234567897 finds 978-1-23456-789-7). The scope select in the header search and in Ask the catalogue narrows it: Title (product names only), Author (author, publisher and series names), ISBN / SKU (codes only). The “Try:” hints of Ask the catalogue are built from your catalogue: the author and the series with the most products, the ISBN of a popular book and the product code of a popular non-book item.

Upload the cover as the main image and inside pages (title page, first chapter, a spread) as additional images. Books (products with an Author or ISBN value) with more than one image get a Look inside · N pages bookmark on the cover; it opens the standard image viewer on the first inside page, and the thumbnails form a page strip. The second image is also the hover image on cards (setting Show the second image on hover).

More features on the catalogue card: Pages (FO_PAGES, Number), Published (FO_PUBLISHED, Text, for example “2026” or “Coming 2027”), Signed copy (FO_SIGNED, Checkbox: a “Signed” tab on the cover and next to the author).

Give a product a text feature Staff pick (FO_PICK) such as A slow-burning mystery set in a lighthouse. — Ines, fiction desk (the part after the dash is shown as the signature). The cover gets a Staff pick bookmark ribbon, and Folio shelves with the setting Shelf-talker notes (the homepage Staff picks block) and the Book of the month block show the note as a shelf-talker card.

  • New: products added in the last 30 days.
  • Coming soon: products with an availability date in the future (Avail since on the product page) show the “Coming soon” tab and “Pre-order: ships from ”; allow pre-orders with Out of stock actions → Buy in advance.
  • Sale sticker: a round sticker with the discount when a product has a list price above its price or a catalog promotion; promotions with an end date also show “Offer ends in” on the card.

Pack sizes, bulk prices and office reorders

Section titled “Pack sizes, bulk prices and office reorders”
  • Pack size (FO_PACK, Select box: Single, Pack of 10, Box of 500) shows as a chip on stationery and office cards and on the catalogue card; a product option Pack size with price modifiers shows as buttons.
  • Bulk prices: add quantity discounts on the product page (Qty discounts tab, for example 5+ at $6.90, 20+ at $6.20). Folio shows them as a price tier strip under the price.
  • Quick reorder: products with a product code (non-books) show the SKU with a copy button; when the Kavio B2B Quick Order Form add-on is active, a link opens its quick order pad. The Office band on the homepage has a reorder pad that runs the product search by code.

All sections are normal blocks in Website → Themes → Layouts → (Folio layout) → Home page: edit, move, switch off or duplicate them. The hero and the promos are banners (Marketing → Banners): the banner name is the headline; the kit banner meta on the banner page adds the eyebrow, lead, button labels, a second button, a short HUD line (the ribbon on the scene) and a paired product for the price sticker. Publishers we stock, the promise strip, the top bar, the review summary, the category offer tile and the footer brand column are HTML blocks with your own text.
