Product Personalizer turns any product into a personalized product. Shoppers type their text, choose a font and a colour, upload their own photo and pick options such as gift packaging, and they see the result right away on the product image. When the item goes into the cart, the store renders an exact proof image on the server. The proof, the values and the original photo follow the item into the order, where you review the proof, print a production sheet and download the files.
Engraving, embroidery, print on demand, gifts, name plates, jewellery and team wear all need the same thing: the customer’s input, checked before it is paid for, priced correctly and shown to production exactly as the customer saw it. CS-Cart only offers a plain text option and a file field. This add-on adds print areas, a live preview, server-side checks of every input and every image, surcharges and a proof workflow.
- Personalization templates per product, per category (with subcategories) and, on Multi-Vendor, for all products of a vendor.
- Text fields: maximum length and lines, allowed characters, capital letters only, a font list from six bundled fonts (SIL Open Font License), a colour palette, alignment and a maximum text size.
- Image fields: JPG, PNG and WebP only, size and pixel limits, checked on the server and saved again without metadata. SVG and every other file type are refused.
- Choice fields with a surcharge per option (gift box, finish, print side).
- Print areas drawn on the product image (or an own mock-up image) per view, such as front and back, with an optional rotation. Drag and resize them in the editor.
- Live preview on the product page: text in the chosen font and colour fitted into its area, the photo fitted into its area, view tabs. Show exact proof renders the server proof on demand. Works on phones and with the keyboard; in quick view a link leads to the product page.
- Surcharges per item: fixed, per character (with free characters), per image, per option, or a formula when Advanced Product Options & Price Formulas is installed. Calculated on the server; whatever the browser sends is ignored.
- Separate cart lines for different personalizations of the same product; the cart shows the values and a proof thumbnail.
- Approval checkbox “I approve this design” before the item can be added to the cart (per template).
- Orders: personalization lines in the order details, invoices and e-mails, proof thumbnails, downloads of the proof and the original photo for the customer and the staff, a production sheet to print.
- Proof review: mark proofs approved or ask the customer for changes with a note; the customer gets an e-mail.
- Private file storage outside the web root rules, cleanup of abandoned uploads, GDPR anonymization.
- Multi-Vendor: vendors build templates for their own products and see only their own orders’ proofs.
- Full page cache ready (4.21): the product page is the same for every visitor; uploads, proofs and the cart are personal and never cached.
