FAQ
Which carts are captured?
Storefront carts of signed-in customers, and guest carts as soon as the guest enters an e-mail at checkout (or ticks the reminder checkbox). Carts without a known e-mail address cannot be reminded and are not stored. Addresses ending in @example.com are ignored, because CS-Cart generates them for checkouts without an e-mail field.
Do I need a cron job? It is recommended, every 10 minutes. Without cron, the option Also send on admin page loads sends due reminders while someone works in the admin panel, and the Run now button sends them at once.
Reminders are not sent. What should I check? The master switch Send cart reminders, the delay of reminder 1, the consent mode (in opt-in mode only shoppers who ticked the box get reminders), Minimum cart value, and outgoing e-mail in Settings → E-mails. The dashboard shows the last run and recent sending errors; the cart page shows the planned time of the next reminder.
How is “recovered” counted? An order counts as recovered when the shopper received at least one reminder and ordered within the attribution window (default 7 days) after the last reminder. Orders placed before any reminder are shown as Ordered and are not counted. Failed, declined, canceled and unpaid orders do not count as recovered revenue; the dashboard also shows the paid share.
Can the shopper use a reminder coupon twice, or share it? Each code works once: it is removed from the promotion when an order uses it. It also expires after the set number of days (withdrawn on the next run). You can add more conditions to the promotion, for example a minimum subtotal or Once per customer.
What happens to the coupons when I uninstall the add-on? All still-valid codes are withdrawn from their promotions. The promotions themselves stay, so you can delete or reuse them.
Does the restore link log the customer in? No. It only restores the cart in the current browser and prefills the e-mail for guests. A registered customer signs in as usual at checkout; the cart is kept.
What if the shopper changes the cart after a reminder? The cart record is updated and the next reminder waits for its delay counted from the new change. Emptying the cart stops the sequence.
Is it GDPR compliant? The add-on gives you the tools: opt-in or opt-out checkbox at checkout, an unsubscribe link in every e-mail with a permanent suppression list, data export and anonymization through the core GDPR add-on, automatic deletion of old records, and the bridge to the Kavio Labs Cookie Consent add-on. Which mode is right for your store depends on your legal basis; ask your legal adviser.
Does it work with the full page cache of CS-Cart 4.21?
Yes. The add-on prints nothing visitor-specific on cacheable pages and does not write ?:storage_data while the full page cache is on.
Multi-Vendor: who sends the reminder? The marketplace, for the whole cart (one e-mail for products of several vendors). Vendors can see the figures for their own products if you enable the vendor statistics.
Can I change the texts?
Yes, in Design → E-mail templates (subject, text and layout of each reminder) and in Administration → Languages (storefront texts, which all start with kv_abandoned_cart_recovery.).
Do link scanners in mail servers trigger the links? The unsubscribe link opens a confirmation page, so scanners cannot unsubscribe anybody. A scanner that opens the restore link only restores the cart in its own session; it can count as a restore click in the statistics.
Reminders stopped and the admin panel shows a license notice. Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Abandoned Cart Recovery Pro → Settings → License. The status line says what is wrong: no key, a key for another add-on, a revoked license, or a domain that the license does not cover. Fix it and click Check now. Until then no new carts are captured and no reminders or coupons are created; links and coupons in e-mails already sent keep working. See License.
Does the add-on work on my staging copy?
Yes. Subdomains of your licensed domain (for example staging.example.com) and local development hosts (localhost, private IP addresses, *.local, *.test) are covered by the same license.
What happens if your license server is down? Nothing visible: the add-on keeps the last verified result and keeps working for 14 days while it retries. The admin panel shows a notice from the first failed check.
Does the license check slow down my storefront? No. The check runs in the admin panel or from cron, once a day. The storefront only reads the stored result.
