Configuration
Go to Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Pre-Orders & Deposits → Settings. In CS-Cart (Ultimate) with several storefronts, the settings can differ per storefront; the schedule settings belong to the whole installation.

General
Section titled “General”| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enable | On | Switches the storefront features and the deposits of new orders on or off. Orders that already have a deposit keep working either way. |
Storefront
Section titled “Storefront”| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Show the “Pre-order” label on products | On | Adds a “Pre-order” label to the product image in lists and on the product page (core product label component). |
| Show the release date and deposit box on the product page | On | The box under the buttons: “Ships on [date]” or “Ships when back in stock”, and the deposit text. It replaces the core “will be shipped on” notice for pre-orders. |
| Pre-order and in-stock items in one cart | Allow with a note | Allow: one order, nothing shown. Allow with a note: one order, the cart and checkout say that the order ships when all items are available. Order separately: a pre-order item cannot be added to a cart with in-stock items and the other way round; a mixed cart cannot be placed. |
Deposits
Section titled “Deposits”| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Default payment for pre-orders | Deposit: percent of the price | What pre-order products that use the store default ask for: Full payment at checkout, Deposit: percent of the price or Deposit: fixed amount per item. Products can override it in their Pre-order tab. |
| Default deposit | 25 | Percent (1–99) or the fixed amount per item in the store’s primary currency. |
| Order status after the deposit is paid | Deposit paid | The status an order gets when the first payment (the deposit) is received. The add-on creates Deposit paid (inventory: decrease, so the stock stays reserved; not a paid status; not counted for vendor payouts). You can choose any status, for example a status you created in Administration → Order statuses. |
Balance payment
Section titled “Balance payment”| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Request the balance | On the release date | When the e-mail with the balance payment link is sent for pre-orders: On the release date, or Some days before the release date. For pre-orders without a date the request goes out when the stock arrives. |
| Days before the release date | 7 | Used with “Some days before the release date”. |
| Made-to-order deposits: request the balance after (days) | 0 | For deposit products that are not pre-orders. 0 = you send the link from the order page when the goods are ready. |
| Days to pay the balance | 7 | The due date is this many days after the balance request. You can change the due date per order. |
| Reminder every (days) | 3 | Reminder e-mails while the balance is open. |
| Maximum reminders | 2 | 0 = no reminders. |
| Grace period after the due date (days) | 3 | Extra days before the overdue rule runs. |
| When the balance is overdue | Notify only | Notify only: the customer gets an “overdue” e-mail with the link, the store gets a notice. Cancel the order: the order gets the status below, the customer and the store are notified. Refunds of deposits are made by you in your payment provider. |
| Status of cancelled orders | Canceled | Used by “Cancel the order”. |
E-mails
Section titled “E-mails”| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Send the pre-order confirmation e-mail | On | After the order is placed: the items with their ship dates, pay now and balance later. It comes in addition to the core order e-mail. |
| Send the “now available” e-mail to paid pre-orders | On | When all pre-order items of a fully paid order are released. Orders with an open balance get the balance request instead. |
| Notify the store about balance payments and overdue balances | On | E-mails to the orders department (in Multi-Vendor, of the vendor). |
The texts are e-mail templates in Design → E-mail templates (Pre-order confirmation, Balance payment request, Pre-order available, Balance overdue or order cancelled, Pre-orders: store notice). You can edit them like any other template.
Schedule
Section titled “Schedule”Releases, balance requests, reminders and overdue balances are processed by a schedule.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Run the schedule on admin activity when no cron job is set up | On | Runs the schedule after an admin page was sent, at most every 30 minutes. Fine for small stores; use a cron job for exact timing. |
| Cron key | (generated) | Secret key of the cron URL. |
| Cron job | Shows the command and the URL to use, and the last run. |
Set up a cron job that runs every hour:
php /path/to/store/admin.php --dispatch=kv_pre_orders_backorders.cronor, if your host can only call URLs, https://yourstore.com/index.php?dispatch=kv_pre_orders_backorders.cron&key=<cron key>. Orders → Pre-orders & deposits → Run now runs it at once.
License
Section titled “License”The license status is shown in a License card at the top of the add-on page, above the tabs, so you see it on every tab. The License tab holds the key itself. The key is stored once for the whole installation.

The License card shows:
- the status in color: green when valid, blue for a development host or the 14-day period before a key is required (with the days left), amber when the license server could not be reached (with the days left) or a Marketplace number is still being verified, red when the add-on is switched off;
- in plain words what the status means and, when the add-on is (or will be) switched off, what stops: new checkouts use normal full payment without pre-order labels, deposits or limits; orders that already have a deposit keep their balance links, reminders and payment handling;
- the licensed domain, every storefront with its result (covered, development host, not covered), the end of the updates and support period, the last and the next check, and the key in use (masked);
- the actions Enter license key / Change license key (opens the License tab), Check now (verifies at once and stays on the page), Manage license (your licenses on cs-cart.kaviolabs.com) and, without a valid license, Buy a license.
In Add-ons → Manage add-ons the add-on’s row shows a small license badge next to its name, for example License: Valid or License: Pending · 9 days left.
The add-on’s own admin pages (Orders → Pre-orders & deposits and its products report) show the license status in a bar at the top: a small green chip when the license is valid, or a banner with the status, what is switched off and the same actions as the card. The Pre-order tab of the product editor shows a short note while the license is not valid; your input is saved either way.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| License key | Your Kavio Labs license key (KAVIO-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, from My licenses on cs-cart.kaviolabs.com) or your CS-Cart Marketplace license number. If you entered the Marketplace license number in Add-ons → Manage add-ons (the add-on’s license field), leave this empty: the add-on uses that number. |
| License status | Points to the License card and explains what the check sends. |
What the license covers. A license is bound to the base domain you entered at purchase (for example yourstore.com) and covers every subdomain of it (www.yourstore.com, shop.yourstore.com, staging.yourstore.com). Local development hosts are always allowed: localhost, 127.0.0.1 and other private IP addresses, and host names ending in .localhost, .test, .local, .example or .invalid. A store on a different base domain needs its own license. If you move your store to a new domain, contact support.
When the add-on checks. When you save the key, and then once a day. The check runs only in the admin panel (on a page you open) or from cron, never while customers browse the storefront or place orders, and takes a few seconds at most. A cron job keeps the license verified even when nobody opens the admin panel:
php /path/to/store/admin.php --dispatch=kv_pre_orders_backorders_license.checkWhat is sent. The check sends this to https://cs-cart.kaviolabs.com and nothing else: the license key, the add-on ID and version, the host names of your storefronts, your CS-Cart version and edition, and a random one-time value. No customer or order data is sent. The server answers with a digitally signed result, so a forged answer is ignored.
Statuses.
| Status (card) | Color | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Valid | Green | The license is valid for this domain. Everything works. |
| Development host | Blue | The store runs on a local development host, which every license covers. Everything works. |
| Pending verification | Amber | A CS-Cart Marketplace license number was accepted, but the Marketplace has not confirmed it yet. Everything works. |
| Pending · N days left | Blue | No verified key yet (a new installation). Everything works for 14 days. |
| Grace period · N days left | Amber | The last checks failed (for example a network problem). The add-on keeps working for 14 days after the first failed check. |
| Not activated, Invalid key, Revoked, Domain mismatch, Not verified | Red | New checkouts are normal orders paid in full: no pre-order labels, info boxes, button texts, cart summary, mixed-cart rule, limits or deposits. Orders that already have a deposit keep working: the payment link, the amount the gateway charges, the status mapping, reminders, due dates and the overdue rule. Product settings and order records stay and can be edited. Domain mismatch shows the licensed domain next to the domain your store runs on. |
When your updates and support period ends, the add-on keeps working. Only updates and support stop.
License information appears in the admin panel only, and only for administrators who may manage add-ons; vendors and customers never see it. When the add-on is switched off, other admin pages also show a notice once per session with a link to the add-on page; the add-on page and the add-on’s own pages show the card or the status bar instead.
