Installation

  1. Go to Add-ons > Manage add-ons, click the gear icon, Manual installation, and upload kv_offsite_backup-1.0.0.zip.
  2. Install Off-site Backup and enter your license key in its settings (or the CS-Cart Marketplace license number in Add-ons > Manage add-ons).
  3. Create the destination: a private bucket with its own access key (S3-compatible storage) or a folder and user on your FTP server. See Configuration.
  4. Fill in Settings > Destination, save, then open Administration > Off-site backup and click Test connection.
  5. Click Back up database now once and check the run log.
  6. Add the cron job shown on the dashboard (every 15 minutes). Each call runs only the backups that are due.
  • PHP cURL extension (S3-compatible storage) or the PHP FTP extension (FTP/FTPS). Both are standard on most CS-Cart hosting.
  • PHP zip extension (ZIP archives) or Phar (TGZ archives).
  • Free disk space for one archive in var/backups while it is made and uploaded (about the size of your database dump, or of the files archive).
  • A command-line cron job, or a cron URL call for hosts without one.

Command line (recommended, no web server time limit):

*/15 * * * * php /path/to/store/admin.php --dispatch=kv_offsite_backup.cron

Hosts without a command-line cron can call the secret URL shown on the dashboard instead. Big stores may hit the web server’s time limit on that path; the run is then marked as interrupted in the log and retried.

Upload the new zip over the installed add-on, or use the Upgrade Center package. The add-on adds missing tables, settings and language variables by itself on the next admin page load. Your settings and run history stay.

Uninstalling removes the settings and the run log. Archives at the destination and local copies in var/backups are not deleted: they are your backups.
