FAQ
Does it work with CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor?
Section titled “Does it work with CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor?”Yes. The add-on supports CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor (Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions). In Multi-Vendor the marketplace owner can use one UPS account for everyone or let each vendor connect their own.
CS-Cart already has a UPS module. Why this add-on?
Section titled “CS-Cart already has a UPS module. Why this add-on?”The core carrier “UPS” (4.17.2, 4.18.3, 4.21.2) already uses the UPS OAuth REST Rating API, but it only fetches checkout rates, one service per shipping method. The old XML carrier “UPS (deprecated)” is still in core. This add-on adds what a shipping desk needs: labels (GIF, ZPL), multi-package shipments, the international commercial invoice and the duties payer, return labels, void, pickups, tracking with scan events, address validation, safe retries, per-vendor accounts and a log. It does not touch the core module and can run next to it.
Do I need a UPS account?
Section titled “Do I need a UPS account?”Yes: a UPS account number and an app in the UPS Developer Portal. The test environment works without shipping anything. UPS has to approve your move to production.
Does it support negotiated rates?
Section titled “Does it support negotiated rates?”Yes. With “Prices at checkout” set to your account rates, the add-on sends your account number and the negotiated rate indicator; when UPS returns a negotiated total it is used, otherwise the published rate.
Can a label be bought twice by mistake?
Section titled “Can a label be bought twice by mistake?”The add-on never buys a second label by itself: a lock per order, a stored attempt with its own reference before every purchase, and a hold (“Unresolved”) when UPS might have created the shipment but did not confirm it. While the hold exists no new label is bought for that order. The add-on then searches UPS tracking for its reference and recovers the label by tracking number, or you paste the tracking number from your UPS shipping history. UPS has no duplicate protection of its own, so discard a hold only when you are sure UPS holds no shipment for it. See Usage.
Which services are included?
Section titled “Which services are included?”Ground, 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air, 2nd Day Air A.M., Next Day Air Saver, Next Day Air, Next Day Air Early, Standard, Worldwide Saver, Worldwide Expedited, Worldwide Express, Worldwide Express Plus and Express 12:00. Freight, Mail Innovations, Access Point delivery and dangerous goods are not supported.
Why are labels GIF or ZPL, not PDF?
Section titled “Why are labels GIF or ZPL, not PDF?”UPS delivers shipping labels as GIF, ZPL, EPL or SPL through the Ship API; PDF is used for forms such as the commercial invoice. GIF prints on any printer.
Does address validation work outside the US?
Section titled “Does address validation work outside the US?”UPS offers street level validation for the United States and Puerto Rico only. Other addresses are shipped as entered (the label request still checks postal code and state).
Which CS-Cart versions are supported?
Section titled “Which CS-Cart versions are supported?”4.17.2 to 4.21.x.
Where are my credentials stored?
Section titled “Where are my credentials stored?”In your own database, encrypted. The key is derived from your store’s secret in config.php, so a database dump alone does not reveal them. They are never shown again after saving.
Does it send data to Kavio Labs?
Section titled “Does it send data to Kavio Labs?”No. The add-on talks to UPS only. The license check sends your domain name to the Kavio Labs license server once a day (Kavio Labs downloads).
What happens when UPS is down?
Section titled “What happens when UPS is down?”Rates: the method is hidden, or your fallback rate is offered. Labels: jobs wait and are retried automatically (5 minutes up to 12 hours) when UPS did not process the request; when the outcome is unknown the attempt is held for you (the add-on searches UPS tracking for its reference and you can paste a tracking number), so no label is bought again automatically.
What happens when the license expires?
Section titled “What happens when the license expires?”New work stops (no new rates, labels or pickups). Tracking of shipments that already exist and the queue keep running.
How do I get updates?
Section titled “How do I get updates?”Install the new package over the old one. See Installation.
How do I get support?
Section titled “How do I get support?”Contact us through https://cs-cart.kaviolabs.com.
My license shows “Pending verification”
Section titled “My license shows “Pending verification””This status appears in older add-on versions when you use a CS-Cart Marketplace license number that our license server has not matched with the Marketplace yet. The add-on is fully working in this state: no feature is switched off and you do not need to do anything. Newer versions show it as Active (Marketplace license). We confirm Marketplace numbers on our side; click Check now on the add-on’s License tab (Add-ons → Manage add-ons → the add-on) a little later and it shows Active. If it has not changed after 24 hours, contact support with your Marketplace order number.
Still stuck?
Section titled “Still stuck?”Work through the troubleshooting guide, then contact support with your CS-Cart version, edition, PHP version and the add-on version (1.0.0).
