Generate codes
Section titled “Generate codes”- Create a cart promotion under Marketing > Promotions, with the bonus you want, for example 10% off the order. Leave its coupon condition out.
- Go to Marketing > Coupon codes > Generate codes.
- Choose the promotion and fill in the form.
- Press Generate codes.
| Field | Effect |
|---|---|
| Number of codes | Up to 50,000. Add codes on the batch page adds more later |
| Prefix | For example SUMMER gives SUMMER-7KQ2XM9P |
| Random characters | 4 to 24 |
| Characters | Letters and digits without look-alikes such as O and 0, letters only, or digits only |
| Uses per code | 1 makes it single use |
| Expires | The last moment a code works. Empty means no end date |
The add-on adds the condition Code from a batch to the promotion. The promotion then needs a code from this batch, on top of its other conditions. Several batches can share one promotion: a code from any of them gives the discount, and each batch keeps its own report. If the conditions of the promotion were set to any, they are kept in a group, because a batch code must always be required.
What the customer sees
Section titled “What the customer sees”The customer enters the code in the coupon field in the cart or at checkout. Upper and lower case do not matter. A used, expired or disabled code shows a message and gives no discount.
Core’s Allow only one coupon per order setting also applies to these codes.
Coupon links
Section titled “Coupon links”The batch page shows the address:
https://yourstore.com/index.php?dispatch=kv_coupon_codes_pro.apply&code=CODEReplace CODE. Add &to=/some-page/ to send the customer to a page of your store. The code waits in the session and is applied as soon as the cart has products. The CSV export has the link of every code.
Reports
Section titled “Reports”The batch list shows codes, codes used, orders and revenue. The batch page adds discount, and one row per code with uses, revenue and last order. A Multi-Vendor order split between vendors counts as the order the customer placed.
A code leaked
Section titled “A code leaked”Open the batch and press Disable next to the code.
Two customers, one last use
Section titled “Two customers, one last use”A use is taken in one step right before the order is written. If a code ran out in the meantime, the order is stopped, the code leaves the cart and the customer sees the new total.
Deleting a batch
Section titled “Deleting a batch”Deleting a batch removes its codes and report, and the condition from the promotion. Orders stay as they are. A promotion left without any condition is disabled, so it cannot apply to every cart. A promotion with other conditions stays active: check it before you delete.
