Usage

Dock reads everything from standard CS-Cart data: categories and their product counts, product features, product variations, catalog promotions, stock, reviews, blog posts and Block Manager blocks. This page shows which data feeds which part of the design.

The sidebar is the header of the theme layout (Website → Themes → Layouts → Default), shown as a column on wide screens:

Block What it shows
Logo Your logo; each style ships a light logo for the dark sidebar (Graphite, Midnight, Mint) and a dark one for Daylight.
Command search “Search products Ctrl K”: opens the search palette.
Dock quick links Home, Deals (number of active products on sale: a list price above the price or an active catalog promotion), Compare and Orders, then Your lists (wish list, recently viewed). Counts for the compare and wish lists come from the visitor’s own account block.
Departments Categories block: the top-level categories with the number of products in each (subcategories included), the second level behind a disclosure button. About 12 departments fit without scrolling; longer lists scroll inside the column.
Dock promo card An HTML block: one short offer with a link.
My Account Sign in, register, orders.

The tool row above the main pane shows “N products · N deals live” (catalogue counts, refreshed every hour), your quick links, languages and currencies.

The homepage opens with the Dock search block (template “Command search”, shown open). While shoppers type, the palette shows phrases, matching departments with product counts and the top products with price and stock. With the Instant Live Search add-on installed, its results are used; without it Dock asks its own suggestion endpoint (the visitor’s prices and product visibility apply). Enter opens the search results page. Ctrl K or “/” opens the palette from any page.

The Dock intent chips under the palette are an HTML block of links (for example “Under $100” pointing to a search with a price filter). Edit them to match your catalogue.

Homepage windows (Website → Themes → Layouts → Homepage)

Section titled “Homepage windows (Website → Themes → Layouts → Homepage)”
Window Block template What to set
Deals of the day / Bestsellers / New in Index rows (Kavio theme) with “Show a thumbnail in every row” and “Show the rating in every row” Three products blocks in one tab group (user class kv-tabs); 5 products each work best. The tab strip shows the time left until the earliest deal ends.
Gaming / Audio / Smart home Ruled tiles (Dock theme) Three products blocks in one tab group; 4 products each.
Recently viewed static template Nothing: product pages record the last 12 products in the visitor’s browser. Off with the setting Recently viewed window.
Ending soon Mini rows with timers (Dock theme) Products in a catalog promotion with an end date; the window stays empty without them.
Shop by budget HTML block Four price bands with links to filtered searches.
Browse departments Department launcher (Dock theme) Top-level categories; the category image is the tile icon (a square image on a transparent or white background works best).
Buying guides Guides (Dock theme) Blog posts (recent posts filling): numbered rows with the date and the post image.
About the store HTML block Your store text (good for search engines).

The newsletter block in the footer shows as the “Exclusive discounts” window; the footer menus and the brand column (“Dock footer brand” HTML block) form the footer window.

  • Spec chips: the first three features with Show in product list (short values such as “512 GB” or “14-inch OLED”).
  • Stock line: In stock (green), “Only N left” (amber, 5 or fewer), Out of stock, Pre-order with the availability date.
  • “+” button: adds the product to the cart; products with required options open the quick view; out-of-stock products with “Sign up for notification” show the notify button.
  • Multi-Vendor: the seller name under the product name.
  • Code line above the name: the product code and the first feature marked Show in product header.
  • Key-spec strip: up to four features marked Show in product header.
  • Specifications tab: the product features grouped by feature group.
  • Variations (Product Variations add-on): colour, storage and size features with up to eight values show as buttons.
  • Option cards: radio-button options (for example a protection plan) show as selectable cards with the price.
  • Facts list: stock, the delivery line (“order within 3 h 12 min for delivery tomorrow”, setting Next-day delivery cutoff), “Sold by” on Multi-Vendor, and a returns and warranty line (language variable kv_theme_dock.trust_line).
  • Works with it and Customers also viewed under the tabs: products blocks of the product page layout (a manual list, or the fillings of your related products add-on).

Deal prices come from catalog promotions (Marketing → Promotions) or list prices. Every countdown (tab strip, Ending soon, product page) counts to the real end date of the product’s active catalog promotion; a promotion without an end date shows the sale price without a timer.

From 1440 px the cart is docked on the right: the lines, the free-delivery progress (your Free Shipping Progress Bar add-on, else the setting Free delivery from), Checkout and View cart, and the Works with your cart products block (shown while the cart has items; user class kv-dock-slot). While the cart is empty the panel shows the Bestsellers products block instead (user class dk-cart-empty; change its filling or switch it off in the Block manager like any products block). Below 1440 px the cart button opens the same panel.

The Dock status bar HTML block holds the text of the bar at the bottom of wide screens. It is hidden on cart and checkout pages and while a dialog is open; switch it off with the setting Status bar.
