Built for
UPS REST Rates & Labels: UPS rates at checkout, labels, returns, pickups and tracking from the order page1 of 7
What it does
For stores and marketplaces that ship with UPS and have a UPS account. UPS is a parcel carrier; the add-on connects your store to the UPS Developer Portal APIs with your own app credentials. It asks UPS for rates, creates shipments and labels, voids them, reads tracking, books pickups and checks US addresses, in test or live mode. The built-in CS-Cart UPS carrier only quotes rates; this adds the rest.
How it works
Enter your UPS app credentials and account number, test in the UPS test environment, then switch to live. Add one shipping method per UPS service. Open an order, check the pre-filled packages and click Create label; print the GIF or ZPL file. Tracking is refreshed by cron and shown on the order. Failed jobs are retried automatically and listed in the log.
Features
Credentials stored encrypted, separate test and live mode, one-click connection test
Job queue with automatic retries and a log with filters and CSV export
Works with cron (command line or secret address), no long requests during checkout
Multi-Vendor: one marketplace account or one account per vendor
Rating API: 13 services in one call, negotiated or published rates, delivery dates, markup and free shipping
Labels in GIF or ZPL, multi-package shipments, commercial invoice and duties payer for international orders
Return labels (domestic lanes), void at UPS, and a purchase whose answer was lost is never bought again automatically: it is held for review and recovered through UPS tracking or by pasting the tracking number
On-call pickups: book and cancel
Tracking with scan events, street level address validation for the US and Puerto Rico
Works on 4.17 to 4.21 and next to the core UPS carrier

UPS OAuth REST integration (client credentials with HTTP Basic client authentication; UPS Customer Integration Environment and production) for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 to 4.21.x, next to the core UPS carrier.
Checkout rates from the Rating API (Shop / Shoptimeintransit): 13 services in one call, negotiated or published rates, delivery dates, markup, rounding, free shipping threshold, fallback rate.
Labels (Shipping API) in GIF or ZPL from the order page or at an order status, multi-package shipments, return labels (Print Return Label), void, international commercial invoice with duties payer (recipient, sender, third party).
Guarded label purchase: lock per order, attempt recorded with our own reference before the call, never bought twice automatically, unresolved hold after a lost answer with recovery through the Tracking API reference search and Label Recovery by tracking number, or by a tracking number the admin pastes; cancelled / declined / failed orders refused.
Shipment.InvoiceLineTotal for forward shipments from the US to Canada and Puerto Rico (required by the Shipping API); no customs forms between two EU member states; an order level discount is spread over the customs lines; ZIP+4 is cut to five digits for pickups; text in non-Latin scripts is transliterated; no second rating call for an address error.
On-call pickups (Pickup API): book and cancel.
Tracking (Track API) with scan events, optional order status on delivery, tracking number as a CS-Cart shipment with a UPS tracking link.
Street level address validation for the US and Puerto Rico (Address Validation API) with the residential / commercial classification used for the label.
Multi-Vendor: marketplace owner mode (optionally with vendor labels) or one UPS account per vendor, per-action vendor privileges.
Connection page with encrypted credentials, test and live mode and a connection test; job queue with retries and back-off, cron (command line and secret address), log viewer with CSV export; license client and upgrade synchronizer.
Tested on Multi-Vendor 4.17.2. First release.
Does it work with CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor?
Yes. The add-on supports CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor (Ultimate and Multi-Vendor editions). In Multi-Vendor the marketplace owner can use one UPS account for everyone or let each vendor connect their own.
CS-Cart already has a UPS module. Why this add-on?
The core carrier "UPS" (4.17.2, 4.18.3, 4.21.2) already uses the UPS OAuth REST Rating API, but it only fetches checkout rates, one service per shipping method. The old XML carrier "UPS (deprecated)" is still in core. This add-on adds what a shipping desk needs: labels (GIF, ZPL), multi-package shipments, the international commercial invoice and the duties payer, return labels, void, pickups, tracking with scan events, address validation, safe retries, per-vendor accounts and a log. It does not touch the core module and can run next to it.
Do I need a UPS account?
Yes: a UPS account number and an app in the UPS Developer Portal. The test environment works without shipping anything. UPS has to approve your move to production.
Does it support negotiated rates?
Yes. With "Prices at checkout" set to your account rates, the add-on sends your account number and the negotiated rate indicator; when UPS returns a negotiated total it is used, otherwise the published rate.
Can a label be bought twice by mistake?
The add-on never buys a second label by itself: a lock per order, a stored attempt with its own reference before every purchase, and a hold ("Unresolved") when UPS might have created the shipment but did not confirm it. While the hold exists no new label is bought for that order. The add-on then searches UPS tracking for its reference and recovers the label by tracking number, or you paste the tracking number from your UPS shipping history. UPS has no duplicate protection of its own, so discard a hold only when you are sure UPS holds no shipment for it. See Usage.
Which services are included?
Ground, 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air, 2nd Day Air A.M., Next Day Air Saver, Next Day Air, Next Day Air Early, Standard, Worldwide Saver, Worldwide Expedited, Worldwide Express, Worldwide Express Plus and Express 12:00. Freight, Mail Innovations, Access Point delivery and dangerous goods are not supported.
Why are labels GIF or ZPL, not PDF?
UPS delivers shipping labels as GIF, ZPL, EPL or SPL through the Ship API; PDF is used for forms such as the commercial invoice. GIF prints on any printer.
Does address validation work outside the US?
UPS offers street level validation for the United States and Puerto Rico only. Other addresses are shipped as entered (the label request still checks postal code and state).
Which CS-Cart versions are supported?
4.17.2 to 4.21.x.
Where are my credentials stored?
In your own database, encrypted. The key is derived from your store's secret in config.php, so a database dump alone does not reveal them. They are never shown again after saving.
Does it send data to Kavio Labs?
No. The add-on talks to UPS only. The license check sends your domain name to the Kavio Labs license server once a day (Kavio Labs downloads).
What happens when UPS is down?
Rates: the method is hidden, or your fallback rate is offered. Labels: jobs wait and are retried automatically (5 minutes up to 12 hours) when UPS did not process the request; when the outcome is unknown the attempt is held for you (the add-on searches UPS tracking for its reference and you can paste a tracking number), so no label is bought again automatically.
What happens when the license expires?
New work stops (no new rates, labels or pickups). Tracking of shipments that already exist and the queue keep running.
How do I get updates?
Install the new package over the old one. See Installation.
