Stock Statuses & Lead Times: overview1 of 15
What it does
CS-Cart shows only "In stock", a count or "Out of stock". Stock Statuses & Lead Times lets you define your own statuses such as "Ships in 3–5 days", "Special order", "Coming soon" or "Discontinued", each with a colour, an icon and a lead time. It is for stores that sell made-to-order, drop-shipped or backordered items and want shoppers to know when an order ships, and for marketplaces whose vendors work with different delivery times.
How it works
Six sample statuses are ready after installation. Edit their names, colours, icons and lead times, using tokens for the lead time, the stock and the dispatch date. Add rules such as "stock 1 to 3: Only [qty] left" or "out of stock in Furniture: Ships in 3–5 days", or pick a status per product. Shoppers see the status on the product page, in lists and in the cart, can filter by it, and find it again in their order and e-mails.

Named stock statuses with name, second line, colour, eight icons, lead time, dispatch date option, feed availability value and filter label; tokens [days], [qty] and [date]; six sample statuses and a low-stock rule on installation.
Rules by stock state or stock range, category (with subcategories), product, vendor and warehouse (core Warehouses add-on), ordered by position; optional lead time of the preferred supplier (Purchase Orders & Suppliers).
Per-product status for in stock and out of stock and per-product lead time in the product editor, with the status shown now; variations supported.
Default statuses for in stock and out of stock; business-day dispatch dates.
Storefront output on the product page and quick view (replace or below the standard stock text), in lists and product blocks, and in the cart; full page cache safe.
Status snapshot of order lines, shown as "Availability" in order details, notification e-mails and invoices.
"Stock status" product filter (core Products → Filters) with its own index; filters switched off with the add-on and removed on uninstall.
Feed API Feed::availability() with Google Merchant Center availability values and dates, used by Product Feed Pro for Google Merchant Center 1.1.2 and Multichannel Product Feeds 1.0.1.
Lead time API Lead::days(), used by Shipping Estimator on Product Page 1.0.1 as the least handling time.
Pre-Orders & Deposits coexistence: pre-order products keep their pre-order label.
Multi-Vendor: vendor access levels; vendors manage statuses and rules for their own products.
Domain-bound license check and self-healing upgrades.
Tested on Multi-Vendor 4.17.2, CS-Cart 4.17.2, Multi-Vendor 4.21.2. First release.
Does a status change who can buy a product?
No. Statuses only change what shoppers see. Whether an out-of-stock product can be bought is still decided by CS-Cart: set Out of stock actions → Buy in advance on products that you sell on backorder (for example with "Ships in [days] days").
What do shoppers see for a product without a status?
The standard CS-Cart stock text. This happens when no product setting, rule or default applies, for example out-of-stock products while Status when out of stock is "None".
Can a status show the number of items left?
Yes. Use [qty] in the name, for example "Only [qty] left", and a rule "Stock between 1 and 3". The sample rule "Low stock" does exactly that.
How is the dispatch date calculated?
Today plus the longest lead time of the status (or of the product, or of the preferred supplier when a rule asks for it). With Count business days only, Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Public holidays are not taken into account.
Does it work with product variations and options?
Yes. Each variation is its own product with its own stock and settings; when a shopper picks another variation, the status of that variation is shown. Products with options but one stock show one status.
Does it work with the core Warehouses add-on?
Yes. The status follows the stock shown to the shopper. Rules can also check the stock of one warehouse or store, for example to show "Ships in 5–7 days" when the main warehouse is empty but another location has stock.
Does it work with Pre-Orders & Deposits?
Yes. While a product is a pre-order in that add-on, its pre-order label is shown and this add-on stays out of the way. When the product is released and in stock, its status shows again.
Does it work with Purchase Orders & Suppliers?
Yes. A rule can use the lead time of the product's preferred supplier for [days] and the dispatch date. Both add-ons also work on their own.
Does it work with Shipping Estimator on Product Page and the feed add-ons?
Yes. Shipping Estimator on Product Page (1.0.1 or later) counts the lead time of the status as the least handling time, so its arrival date never comes before the dispatch date of the status. Product Feed Pro for Google Merchant Center (1.1.2 or later) and Multichannel Product Feeds (1.0.1 or later) send the feed value of the status. Urgency & Social Proof (1.0.1 or later) leaves out its "Only N left" cart message when a stock status is already shown on that cart line.
Does it work with the full page cache of CS-Cart 4.21?
Yes. The status is the same for every visitor, so cached pages are correct. Pages are refreshed when the stock, a status, a rule or a product setting changes.
Will it slow down my store?
No. Statuses are worked out for a whole product list at once with a handful of small queries, and CS-Cart's block cache keeps the result.
Why does the filter not show a product?
The filter uses an index that is refreshed on stock changes, product saves, imports and status or rule changes. If stock was changed outside CS-Cart, click Rebuild filter index on the Statuses page.
What happens if the license lapses?
Without a valid license (no key after the 14-day start period, an invalid or revoked key, a domain the license does not cover, or no successful check for 14 days), products show the standard CS-Cart stock text again, the stock status filter is hidden and product feeds fall back to their own availability; your statuses, rules and product settings are kept, and orders placed earlier still show the status they were placed with. Once the license is valid again, everything works again.
The admin panel shows a license notice.
Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Stock Statuses & Lead Times → Settings → License. The status line says what is wrong: no key, a key for another add-on, a revoked license, or a domain that the license does not cover. Fix it and click Check now. See License.
Does the add-on work on my staging copy?
Yes. Subdomains of your licensed domain (for example staging.yourstore.com) and local development hosts (localhost, private IP addresses, .local, .test) are covered by the same license.
Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?
No. The check runs in the admin panel or from cron, once a day. The storefront never runs it.
Add a released add-on to this order and save 15% on it. It uses the same edition and store domain.
