Vendor KYC & Verification: overview1 of 16
What it does
For marketplaces that must know their sellers. Multi-Vendor approves vendor accounts, but it never checks documents. This add-on adds an ongoing verification: document types such as ID, proof of address, business registration, tax certificate and bank statement, required per vendor plan, country and business type, with expiry dates. Vendors upload them on a Verification page in the vendor panel; you approve or reject each one. For Multi-Vendor 4.17.2 to 4.21.
How it works
Set the required document types under Vendors, Vendor verification. Vendors see the documents they need on their Verification page, choose their business type, upload files with the expiry date and follow the status. You review uploads in the queue: approve with an expiry date, or reject with a reason that the vendor receives by e-mail. A scheduled task handles expiry and reminders. Verified vendors get the badge on their page, in vendor lists and next to their products.

Document types (requirements) with instructions, required or optional, expiry modes and scope by vendor plan, country and business type; five default types.
Vendor panel Verification page: business type, status per document, uploads with several files, expiry date and note, renewals, own file downloads; dashboard notice.
Admin review queue, vendor list with levels, vendor review page: approve with expiry date, reject with reason, request a new upload, change expiry, upload on behalf, exemption, erase documents.
Verification levels (unverified, pending review, verified, expired, not required) recalculated on every change and by a scheduled task.
Expiry reminders and expired e-mails, review result e-mails to vendors, new-document e-mails to administrators.
Verified seller badge on the vendor page, vendor lists and product pages (full page cache safe).
Optional restrictions until verified: payout hold (core Accounting and Vendor Payouts Automation), hidden products, no new products; grace period and "lift while in review".
Encrypted storage outside the public folders, content check on uploads, permission-checked downloads, audit log, retention of replaced files.
Optional use of vendor application files from Vendor Onboarding & Registration Builder.
Developer hooks, including one for identity verification services.
Tested on Multi-Vendor 4.17.2. First release.
Does the add-on check documents automatically?
No. Version 1.0 is a manual review workflow: your team looks at each document and approves or rejects it. The add-on offers a developer hook that identity verification services can use to review uploads automatically (see Developer notes).
Does it replace the core vendor approval?
No. You still approve or disapprove vendor accounts as before. Verification is a separate, ongoing check that keeps running after the account was approved, with expiry dates and renewals.
Which vendors must upload documents?
Every vendor to whom at least one active required document type applies (by plan, country and business type). Vendors without required document types have the level Not required: no badge, no restrictions.
Will my existing vendors be blocked right after installation?
No. Restrictions are off after installation, and when you switch them on, every vendor first gets the grace period (14 days by default) counted from the first time documents were required. You can exempt trusted vendors.
What exactly happens to payouts?
With Hold payouts on, a restricted vendor cannot request a withdrawal, and administrators cannot complete the vendor's payouts or withdrawals in Accounting (declining still works). With Vendor Payouts Automation, payout requests of the vendor stay pending and cannot be approved; requests that were approved before the hold can still be marked as paid. Money already earned stays in the vendor's balance.
Can customers still buy products of unverified vendors?
Only if you leave Hide products off. With it on, the products disappear from the storefront until the vendor is verified. Order value limits are not part of version 1.0.
Who can see the documents?
The vendor itself and administrators with the View vendor verification privilege. Documents are stored outside the public folders, encrypted, and every download is logged with the user and IP address.
How do I handle a data deletion request?
Open the vendor's review page and use ⚙ → Erase all documents of this vendor. Deleting a vendor removes its documents automatically. Files of replaced and rejected uploads are deleted after the retention period you set.
I moved my store to a new server and documents cannot be downloaded.
Encrypted documents need the same secret key (crypt_key in config.local.php) as the store that stored them. Copy the old value to the new store.
Does the badge work with the full page cache of CS-Cart 4.21?
Yes. The badge is the same for every visitor, and cached pages are refreshed automatically when a vendor's level changes.
Can vendors upload documents during sign-up?
Use our Vendor Onboarding & Registration Builder for the application form. Its files appear on the vendor's review page, where you can use them as verification documents with one click.
