Vendor Coupons & Promotions: overview1 of 12
What it does
For Multi-Vendor marketplaces whose sellers want to run their own campaigns. In core Multi-Vendor, promotions belong to the marketplace and vendors cannot create discounts. This add-on gives every vendor coupon codes for its own products: percent or fixed amount off, free shipping of its shipment, minimum order, dates, total and per-customer limits and first-order coupons. Coupons run on the core promotion engine, so totals, taxes and the per-vendor order split stay exactly as CS-Cart calculates them.
How it works
A vendor opens Marketing, Vendor coupons, creates a code and shares it. The customer enters it in the usual coupon field; only that vendor's items are discounted, other vendors' items stay as they are, and clear messages explain a refused code. When the order is placed, the vendor's order carries the discount and the commission is adjusted by your funding rule: vendor, shared or marketplace. Admin and vendors see every use in the usage report; the admin approves or rejects coupons in one list.

Vendor coupons in the vendor panel (Marketing > Vendor coupons): percent or fixed amount off the vendor's own items, free shipping of the vendor's shipment, minimum order of the vendor's items, start and end dates, total and per-customer usage limits, first order only.
The discount applies only to the coupon vendor's items, also in carts with several vendors; one coupon per vendor and order; exact per-vendor order split.
Coupons run on the core promotion engine (one managed cart promotion per coupon), hidden from the core promotion pages.
Administrator rules: vendors or vendor plans allowed, maximum discount percent, maximum coupons per vendor, free shipping on/off, optional approval with notes, combining with marketplace promotions.
Funding rule: vendor (default), shared or marketplace; the commission of the vendor order is adjusted in core vendor accounting, including category fees and Advanced Commission Rules.
Usage report for vendors and administrators (orders, sales, discount, shipping saved, commission adjustment).
Clear customer messages for refused codes; the order is stopped once when a coupon becomes invalid during checkout.
Domain-bound license check and self-healing upgrades.
Tested on Multi-Vendor 4.17.2, Multi-Vendor 4.21.2. First release.
Can a vendor coupon discount products of other vendors?
No. The discount is applied only to the products of the vendor who created the coupon. In a cart with several vendors, the other vendors' products, orders and payouts are not touched.
Can a customer use coupons of several vendors in one order?
Yes, one coupon per vendor, each on its own products, when the core setting Settings → General → Use single coupon is off. With that setting on (the CS-Cart default), a cart accepts one coupon in total, whether it belongs to a vendor or to the marketplace.
Who pays for the discount?
You decide in the settings: the vendor (default), shared in the ratio of the commission (the standard CS-Cart behaviour), or the marketplace. See Who funds the discount.
Are vendor balances and payouts correct?
Yes. The add-on corrects the commission of the vendor order in core vendor accounting when the order is placed, so the core Accounting page, withdrawals and payout add-ons (including our Vendor Payouts Automation) use the right numbers.
How do vendor coupons work with my own promotions?
Marketplace promotions are applied first; the vendor coupon is calculated on the price after them. You can forbid combining vendor coupons with marketplace cart discounts in the settings. A marketplace promotion with Stop other rules always blocks vendor coupons.
Why is a fixed-amount discount a few cents lower than the amount?
The discount is applied to item prices, in whole cents per unit. When the quantities do not divide the amount evenly (for example $10.00 over 3 identical items), the applied discount can be up to a few cents lower. It is never higher, and the cart shows the exact discount.
Can vendors give free shipping?
Yes, if you allow it. Free shipping removes the shipping charge of the vendor's own shipment; other vendors' shipments and marketplace-fulfilled shipments are not affected.
How are uses counted?
One use per vendor order. Orders that are incomplete, failed, declined or cancelled do not count, so cancelling an order gives the use back. "Uses per customer" and "First order only" recognise customers by account and by e-mail address, so guests are counted too.
Do vendors see the core Promotions page?
No. The add-on does not give vendors access to core promotions. Vendor coupons are stored as core promotions behind the scenes, but they are hidden from the core promotion list and open in the vendor coupon editor.
Does it work with Direct Customer-to-Vendor Payments?
Vendor coupons are stored as core promotions of the vendor, and that add-on applies a vendor's promotions in the vendor's own checkout, so the coupon works there. With that add-on vendors can also manage core promotions themselves; those are independent of this add-on.
Does it change anything on the storefront?
No templates are changed. Customers enter the code in the standard coupon field. Applied coupons appear as promotions named "Vendor: Title" in the cart and in the order.
What does uninstalling remove?
All vendor coupons with their promotions, the usage history, settings, privileges and language variables. Placed orders keep their discounts and vendor balances stay as they are.
Is CS-Cart (not Multi-Vendor) supported?
No. Vendor coupons need Multi-Vendor; the installation is refused on other editions.
What happens if the license lapses?
Without a valid license (no key after the 14-day start period, an invalid or revoked key, a domain the license does not cover, or no successful check for 14 days), vendor coupons can no longer be added to carts and vendors cannot create or edit coupons. Coupons already applied to a cart keep working until the order is placed, so a started checkout is never broken. Placed orders, funding adjustments and usage reports keep working. Once the license is valid again, everything is back.
The admin panel shows a license notice.
Open Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Vendor Coupons & Promotions → Settings → License. The status line says what is wrong: no key, a key for another add-on, a revoked license, or a domain that the license does not cover. Fix it and click Check now. See License.
Does the add-on work on my staging copy?
Yes. Subdomains of your licensed domain (for example staging.example.com) and local development hosts (localhost, private IP addresses, .local, .test) are covered by the same license.
What happens if your license server is down?
Nothing changes for 14 days: the add-on keeps working and retries every hour. Only if no check succeeds for 14 days is it switched off until the next successful check.
Does the license check slow down my storefront or checkout?
No. The check runs in the admin panel or from cron, once a day. The storefront never runs it.
Add a released add-on to this order and save 15% on it. It uses the same edition and store domain.
